1. Protection level
The protection levels of bulletproof shields are NIJ IIIA, NIJ III and NIJ IV.
NIJ IIIA level: can defend against pistols, usually able to withstand the threat of 9 mm FMJ and .44 MAGNUM JHP or lower level weapons.
NIJ III level: usually able to withstand the threat of 7.62 x 51 mm M80 FMJ or lower level weapons.
NIJ IV level: It can defend against rifle armor-piercing projectiles, usually from 7.62 x 63mm M2 armor-piercing projectiles (AP) or lower-level weapons.

Two, use type
At present, there are three main types of bulletproof shields on the market: hand-held bulletproof shields, hand-held cart-type bulletproof shields, and special bulletproof shields.
Hand-held shield:
Hand-held shields are usually equipped with two handles on the back, which can be used by left-handed or right-handed users at the same time, and are also equipped with bullet-proof glass observation windows or sight glasses to facilitate observation of the external situation.
Hand-held shields are mainly suitable for combat scenarios with more complicated terrain. For example, hand-held bulletproof shields are more flexible to use in narrow stairs or passages, and can be better matched with guns and other weapons.
Hand-held cart-type bulletproof shield:
The hand-held trolley bulletproof shield is equipped with a trolley, which is more labor-saving for long-distance movement. In addition, the back of the hand-held bulletproof shield is equipped with a handle, which can be used by hand, and it is also equipped with a bulletproof glass sight. Generally, shields with a higher level of defense are usually heavy, and you need to use a cart for a long time.
The hand-held cart-type bulletproof shield is mainly suitable for relatively open and flat combat scenes. When in use, the shield can be placed on the cart to move freely for a long distance, and it is more labor-saving. In situations where the cart cannot be used due to changes in space and terrain, it can also be used hand-held.
Special bulletproof shield:
Special bulletproof shields usually have a special structure in order to achieve more diversified functions. For example, a ladder-type bulletproof shield has a special structure behind it that can be turned into a ladder to deal with complex terrain, such as helping users to view and control the environment at higher altitudes when necessary. At the same time, the bottom of the shield is also equipped with wheels, which is more convenient and labor-saving to move.
At present, there are also many kinds of shields with different special function designs on the market, such as shields that can be deployed quickly and concealed shields that can be turned into briefcases.
