The tall bulletproof helmet was originally inspired by an iron pot!

In 1914, the German army launched a fierce bombardment on France to compete for a military location in the Allied Powers. The French position was instantly destroyed by a rain of steel bullets with heavy casualties. A French soldier was on duty in the kitchen, and in a panic he folded a pot over his head to avoid shrapnel and flying rocks flying across the sky. Although he was still injured in the end, his head remained intact under the protection of this pot, and he survived in the end.


After the battle, General Luis Adrian went to the hospital to comfort the wounded. He was surprised when he heard the story of this soldier by accident. A pot could withstand the shrapnel of the shell. At this time, an idea appeared in the general's mind. He wanted to put this magical "pot" on every soldier in France. So he found the engineer and asked him to make an iron hat. Soon the engineer designed a helmet shaped like a pot, which was the world's first military helmet M1915.


M1 steel helmet

In 1940, under the pressure of the coming war, the US military ordered the development of a new type of military helmet. After experiencing the three development models of TS-1, TS-2, and TS-3, the US military finally got its own exclusive steel helmet-M1 steel helmet.


The M1 steel helmet weighs 1.36 kg, and its shape has changed from the previous "pot-shaped" to "bowl-shaped". The cushion has also added an adjustable function, which greatly improves the comfort. The shell adopts a unique double-layer helmet shell design, the outer helmet is made of steel, and the inner helmet is high-pressure molding of resin material. The design of the combination of inner and outer helmets made it the most individual helmet during World War II.


Domestic bulletproof helmet GK80

After the founding of New China, our army has gradually completed the construction of the national defense industrialization system, and plans for the localization of various military equipment have gradually been put on the agenda. After several years of research, our army finally ushered in the first-generation domestic bulletproof helmet GK80.


The GK80 steel helmet weighs 1.25 kg, and the shell is made of 232-type bulletproof steel, a material independently developed by my country. It can resist the close-range strikes of the 64 standard rounds fired by the 64-type pistol and low-speed shrapnel, and the protection ability exceeds the SSH-68 helmet, MK-4 and other foreign military helmets. It was the steel helmet with the best protection performance at the time. In the early 1980s, the GK80 helmet was formally equipped with our army, declaring that our army had its own tactical helmet.

Pasgot helmet

On October 25, 1983, US soldiers appeared on the battlefield wearing a brand-new tactical helmet. This was the latest bulletproof helmet-the Pasigert helmet.


Compared with traditional steel helmets, this helmet uses a new composite material Kevlar-29 for production. This material has the advantages of low density, high strength, high temperature resistance, easy processing, etc. The ability to absorb the kinetic energy of shrapnel is 1.6 times that of nylon and twice that of steel.


QGF02 Aramid Helmet

In view of the excellent performance of Pasigert helmets, countries have begun to study new types of composite helmets. Although our country has just developed the first generation of bulletproof helmets, the helmets on the battlefield protect the lives of soldiers. We must firmly grasp the new bulletproof helmet technology. After unremitting efforts, my country finally completed the challenge of the composite bulletproof helmet in 1993, which is the QGF02 aramid helmet.


The helmet has a bullet resistance rate of 100% under the condition of vertical incidence of the 54-type pistol and the 51-type standard bullet at a speed of 420 meters to 450 meters per second.


The design fully refers to the body shape characteristics of Chinese soldiers, and adopts the internal hollow structure design according to the ergonomic design principle to ensure the wide fit and compactness of the helmet, and it has reached the standard of "one helmet for universal use".
